PICS Installation	Previous | Next Contents

The PICS plug-in for WebDoubler must be placed in the "Plug-Ins" folder located in the same folder as the WebDoubler application. In addition, files needed by the PICS plug-in are kept in the "PICS" folder, which must also be in the same folder as the WebDoubler application.

Inside the "PICS" folder are the following files and folders:

PICS.rule

This file is where all configured profiles and filters are stored. If this file does not exist when WebDoubler is launched, it is created automatically.

Example profiles

This folder contains a number of example profiles that demonstrate PICS filtering capabilities. You can easily install any of these profiles using the PICS Profile Manager in the WebDoubler application.

Rating systems

This folder contains rating sytem description files. Rating system description files have the filename suffix ".rat". These files contain information about available rating services and their rating systems. WebDoubler includes ".rat" files for the most popular Internet rating services, but you can install support for other rating services merely by copying their ".rat" description file into this folder.

NoAccess.html

This is the default file that is returned to the browser when a page is blocked by the PICS plug-in. You can modify the contents of this page using any text or HTML editor. You may also specify a different HTML file located anywhere on the WebDoubler server as the "no access" page.

Block.log

When PICS is configured to log blocked URLs, this file is automatically created. It contains data about every http request which is blocked by the PICS plug-in, including the date and time of the request, the client IP address, the proxy username, and the requested URL.
